Abstract

ABSTRACT :This article examines the socio-economic life of the Emirate of Bukhara through the works of the Danish traveler and researcher Ole Olufsen. Based on materials collected during his expeditions to Central Asia in 1896–1897 and 1898–1899, the study analyzes various aspects of social and economic life, including population structure, handicraft production, trade relations, irrigation systems, and administrative organization. Particular attention is paid to the source value of Olufsen’s work The Emir of Bokhara and His Country and its significance for studying the history of the Emirate of Bukhara at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth centuries. The article also evaluates the reliability and scholarly importance of Olufsen’s observations through a comparative analysis with other historical sources and academic studies.
